    Fabulous

The Fat Pigeon was unexpectedly nice, beautiful location and drive to the accommodation. I liked the working farm house idea of self service breakfast etc. The room we had was really nice with lovely views. The main house adjacent is a marvel of old architecture and would have liked the opportunity to explore but time did not allow .

The reception living room was very cold.

The restoration of the rooms appears to have been done on a shoestring budget. Cheap mattress & fittings. Wonderful polished oak floorboards shamefully screwed down with modern cross head screws. Little thought given to guest comfort. Nowhere to hang clothes. Bathroom very stark. Spare furniture & bed stacked in corner. Dead flies stuck to ceiling. Outside very ramshackle. Extremely difficult to find The Fat Pigeon and couldn't get an answer on landline or mobile phone to ask for directions.

    Beautiful location, fascinating building.

We had great difficulty finding the place, despite having a satnav and a map. We tried phoning may times but there was only an answering machine which asked us to ring a mobile which went straight to voicemail. There were no signs at the end of the very long private access road. The car park was unlit, as was the long gravel path to the main door. Reception was unmanned - just a notice asking you to call a mobile number (which was usually out of range). Our room was poorly furnished, just a bed and 2 bedside cabinets. There was no hot water until we complained. The en-suite was unheated and had no shower, just an old-fashioned bath. There appeared to be no fire alarm - there were no call points, no emergency escape signs, no emergency lighting, no fire doors, no fire extinguishers. The breakfast arrangements were chaotic - help yourself, if you can find it! The dining room and the guest louge were a complete mess. It was very hard to contact staff, except the handyman, who was Polish and spoke very little English - though he tried his hardest to help. There was no sign of the proprietor. We can only say "Don't go there".

    Exceptional

We found the owners most welcoming and were thrilled with our accommodation. The beds were excellent and the best night sleep achieved in this b&b for the 2 weeks in England. We were given a tour and the history of this wonderful property by the owner. A very atmospheric stay for we Australians seeking a historic experience. Breakfast by the inglenook fire was a highlight. Thanks Sarah and Bill!

    Superb

It needs a sign on the main road

    Superb

I loved the building and its surroundings, I also thought the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were nice and cosy and the B&B was nice and quiet and peaceful.

There was no hot water for a bath and I felt this spoilt the weekend as I'm heavily pregnant and therefore found a cold bath hard to relax in as did my partner we were told the water would heat up but it didn't.

    Fabulous

The building felt like a castle with its winding staircase and flag stone floors. The staff were friendly

The self service breakfast didn't mean a cooked breakfast.

This is a great B and B, the location is very quiet and peaceful. The house is stunning so too are the grounds. Our room was small but clean more than ok. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for peace and quiet, great location and friendly staff.

    Superb

The drive to and from the bed and breakfast is spectacular with the most beautiful tree-lined avenue. The venue is very similar to a vote in the Provence countryside of France. Beautiful building in a very peaceful location. Gives you the feeling that you are staying on a movie set! Extremely comfortable bed and linen and a lovely cosy room with the mid cons of a flat screen tv and wifi! Would love to stay again. So peaceful! Highly recommend a stay here.

Rather spooky but felt ok once you get used to the environment - in fact that is part of its charm!! Bathroom was too cold:-( no heating:-(

What a find! Feels like a castle cum baronial hall. Michelle the housekeeper was always just a phone call away. Superb grounds and room - especially considering the excellent value for money.

The free wi-fi didn't reach my room.

    Fabulous

Unique location - worth a visit for that alone. Room becomes "home-from-home" and guest is undisturbed unless requesting room to be serviced. Friendly atmosphere. Very good value for money.

Strange en-suite bathroom layout and lack of bathroom mirror a little inconvenient. Soundproofing between rooms could be better.
