a wide array of restaurants to eat close by, like the masons arms that was only 15 minutes' walk away. we loved staying at fat pigeon. we would definitely come back on our next trip to yeovil.

The grounds were breathtaking with plenty of lovely places to walk to. The children enjoyed seeing the chickens, cows, and pigs. The family room was clean and comfortable, perfect for young families.
Felt snug, no complaint.

The Fat Pigeon was unexpectedly nice, beautiful location and drive to the accommodation. I liked the working farm house idea of self service breakfast etc. The room we had was really nice with lovely views. The main house adjacent is a marvel of old architecture and would have liked the opportunity to explore but time did not allow .
The reception living room was very cold.

Lovely setting with beautiful grounds and gardens - perfect for a romantic getaway. Room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that our needs were met.
The hotel lacked attention to detail. There were issues with cleanliness in the room, such as stains in the bathroom and an unmade bed.

Borderline cleanliness . Sheets not very clean as well as toilet ... Too bad

The restoration of the rooms appears to have been done on a shoestring budget. Cheap mattress & fittings. Wonderful polished oak floorboards shamefully screwed down with modern cross head screws. Little thought given to guest comfort. Nowhere to hang clothes. Bathroom very stark. Spare furniture & bed stacked in corner. Dead flies stuck to ceiling. Outside very ramshackle. Extremely difficult to find The Fat Pigeon and couldn't get an answer on landline or mobile phone to ask for directions.

Clean and comfy rooms, with a nice bath and great kitchen facility. Staff are friendly and helpful, offering a mini tour. Breakfast is plentiful, with hot toast and DIY boiled eggs. Sociable atmosphere with fellow travelers. No coffee/tea in rooms, but hot drinks available anytime.

Beautiful location, fascinating building.
We had great difficulty finding the place, despite having a satnav and a map. We tried phoning may times but there was only an answering machine which asked us to ring a mobile which went straight to voicemail. There were no signs at the end of the very long private access road. The car park was unlit, as was the long gravel path to the main door. Reception was unmanned - just a notice asking you to call a mobile number (which was usually out of range). Our room was poorly furnished, just a bed and 2 bedside cabinets. There was no hot water until we complained. The en-suite was unheated and had no shower, just an old-fashioned bath. There appeared to be no fire alarm - there were no call points, no emergency escape signs, no emergency lighting, no fire doors, no fire extinguishers. The breakfast arrangements were chaotic - help yourself, if you can find it! The dining room and the guest louge were a complete mess. It was very hard to contact staff, except the handyman, who was Polish and spoke very little English - though he tried his hardest to help. There was no sign of the proprietor. We can only say "Don't go there".

I recently stayed at The Fat Pigeon for a couples getaway. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful building and the stunning countryside that surrounded it. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, and we enjoyed the communal atmosphere in the dining area, where we met some lovely people. Our second room was clean and comfortable, and we had the best night's sleep in the peaceful surroundings. The history and character of this unique place added to its charm, and we can't wait to return. Thank you, Donal, Mary, Robert, Ted, and all the staff, for your friendliness and hospitality!
Totally recommend this hotel.
